I recently went to look at a 2002 Getaway for sail that i found on Craigslist. I thought the boat looked in alright condition for being 9 years old until I looked at the bottom of the hulls. The back half of both hulls were completely worn down so that there was no plastic left and there was just foam. I am not too familiar with the shape that the bottoms are supposed to be but these looked like ALOT of material had been lost. In the picture you can see that all that was left in places was plastic on the edges and then the foam core. Does anyone have any ideas on how this could have happened and if it could ever be repaired without replacing hulls? From my personal experience with surfboards, I know exposed foam is horrible and i was just picturing being out on the water having water seep through the foam into the hollow hulls. Needless to say I did not buy the boat and told the guy I did not think this was even seaworthy as is. Please take a look at the picture, I would really appreciate any feedback.

Run...

Needs new hulls ($1,350 USD each 4/2011).

How did it happen? Dragged down the highway?

It must've been dragged on pavement ALOT right? There's no way this could've been from beaching or from just dragging by hand to and from trailer...
