Great sailing, critters and sun - followed up by a storm so mean it packed a tornado warning with it.

Here's my blog entry, with lots of pix.

And here's Cindy's video:

Man, did it ever feel good to be back out on the water again!

Very nice video, Bob. Must be great to have winds like that and no waves.

I remember this time last year Mitch when you and Cindy were just starting off the season, and I was getting more and more reluctant about going out. I like those camera angles of the TI coming towards and away from the camera.
Do storms like that turn into twisters in your area ?

Thanks, Keith. The sailing yesterday was on the local reservoir, which is fairly well protected. We rarely see any real chop on it and it's a good location for the first cruise of the year - to check and make sure everything is working correctly before we take it out on the Chesapeake Bay.

Glad you like it, Slaughter.

Yes, storms like that can turn into twisters for us. 30 years ago twisters were exceptionally rare here, but now they're happening pretty regularly. We had a twister hit touch down in Virginia back in 2004, and it left a debris field that crossed the Potomac River and marched straight into our community, ending about 3/4 mile from our house. Twisters are a real problem for us are because the town we live in doesn't have many basements - our own house just has a short crawl space under the ground floor.

As we drove home yesterday we were looking for funnels and planned to drive away from them if they appeared, as it would have been safer for us to be moving on the road than it would have been in our own home.
