Well after months of begging she finally let me pull the trigger on a new PA and I have to say that I like it so far. Bring on the upgrades and mods. Took it out yesterday and didn't catch anything but enjoyed the trip out never the less. I am curious to the ones that use there's in salt on what type of lubricant or where to spray on the drive though in order to protect it. Look forward to talking with everyone more.

Congrats on your new baby! I got mine just over a year ago and love it.
After using my PA in the salt, the mirage drive gets a good rinsing, of course. I then coat all metal parts with Breakfree CLP, as recommended by Hobie Kayak guru Roadrunner. Breakfree washes off pretty fast, but has the advantage of not gumming up over time like WD-40. After a year's use in the salt, my mirage drive looks like new.
One other thing worth mentioning: Despite doing a thorough washdown after every trip, some salt aways seems to stick under the seat area. A few times a season I also remove the seat and do a good cleaning and lube to protect the of the hardware under there.
Have fun!

Just curious but where do you get this CLP you speak of? Thanks for the update on the under seat cleaning I will have to remember that.

Most places that sell guns should carry Breakfree. I got a bottle from a sporting goods store near me. I think you can order it from Amazon as well.

Check out Roadrunner's excellent posts about lubricating the mirage drive:

I've used WD40 for years and never have had a gumming problem. I use Breakfree on my guns and may try some on the drive for the heck of it.
