Quick question for the repair gods...

While un-winterizing my 1977 h16 this spring, I noticed my top gudgeon has pulled from the transom. Both screws had drifted/pulled out. Not wanting to buy the newer one-piece unit, I'm thinking I simply need to tighten the screws...hopefully they are not stripped out.

If they aren't stripped and will re-tighten, can I put a dollop of West System followed by some 3M 5200 around the head for sealing?

If they are stripped, can I fill the old holes, re-drill, and do as aforementioned?

Thanks ya'll

Buy a 1/4-20 tap, #7 drill and some 1/4-20 stainless bolts

1. Drill holes
2. Rup tap through, very easy since it is aluminum
3. Insert bolts
