I am a bit perplexed about the registration. This has to be one of the best events on theplanet for us.

CONSIDER:

San Francisco City Front, venue for 2013 America's Cup 34and one of the most beautiful sailing scenes around.

· Guaranteed wind.

· Event is internet streamed live (SA by our ownadvocate, Jeremy).

· St. Francis Yacht Club, one of the nicest clubsin the United States.

· Walking access from hotels to launching beach.

· Two AC 45s have arrived along with the bestmultihull sailors in the world, rumored to be practicing during our stay.

· Possible entry of AC34 members in the event justfor the fun of it. Chance to meet andchat with these guys.

What in the worldis our Class hesitation? It simplydoesn't get any better than this, EVER.

Nearly all the BayArea boats will be there and will register in the next couple of days. At least 5 boats from the Pacific Northwesthave made reservations at the Holiday Inn, and are making travel plans. 2 moreare watching the alignment of planets and consulting their partners for kitchenpass validation.

There is a regatta this weekend in Sausalito and theyhave 7 F18's already registered. A goodsign that the local Hobie/F18 fleet is getting traction.

I am not sure whatthe hesitation is from our friends down South. Most of them have new dry-suits, but have never had the chance to put them on.J

Phillip Meredith even plans to offer his boat to any ofthe AC team members that want to go for a spin on Thursday and Friday.

For those legitimately forced to sit on the fence, you can register now and still receive a refund if requested by the 20th.

So how about posting the NOR then? Sell it!

1. Beach launch from Crissy Field less than a mile from the Golden Gate Bridge one of the greatest engineering feats combined with one of the world's most scenic settings.
2. The Saint Francis YC is conveniently next to Crissy Field.
3. Does it need to be said that San Francisco is a world class city, complete with no excuse for having nothing to do besides sail?
4. If sailing is all you want then if you can sail the SF bay then you can sail anywhere - ferocious tides and winds right next to wind shadows but no relief from the tide. The wind and tide combinations can create waves that will push your boat and sailing skills to the limit but don't forget you're still in a race.
5. Sail in the next America's Cup conditions for bragging rights.
6. Test your social understanding skills, because the 41st SF Gay Pride parade is the same weekend and the town will be on fire.
7. Who likes food? If you can't get a good meal of whatever you want in San Francisco then you can't get a good meal.
8. San Francisco is having a cocktail revolution and bartenders are going nuts coming up with new recipes.
9. If you drink microbrew then stop by Anchor Brewing and pay homage to a brewery that beat the odds and withstood the money behind Bud, Coors, Miller et. al. to keep alive the style of beer you enjoy today.
10. Have an Irish Coffee at the Buena Vista near Ghiradelli Square that reputedly is the first in America to serve the drink.
11. No visit to San Francisco is complete without seeing a performance of Beach Blanket Babylon.
12. Don't make me continue with North Beach, China town, the Old Ship Saloon, cable cars, the Exploratorium across the street from Crissy Field, blah blah blah.

And all this is at most a 15 minute cab ride from Crissy Field.

Dumb question I'm sure. I assume "NOOD" is an acronym. What does it stand for?

North American Offshore One-Design.
Originally conceived as a series of regattas for one-design keelboat classes, the "Offshore" part has gone by the wayside as they have included "inshore" classes like sportboats (i.e. Melges 24), dinghies (i.e. International 14s) and in the past couple of years - F18s.

Last year, the F18s were the feature class of the SF NOOD, featured in Sailing World magazine.

Matt,

This is the first time I've noticed the "Hobie Approved Guru" rank. I'm sure you're going to tell me it's been there for years. Nevetheless, pretty cool and well deserved.

All the information you could want!

http://www.sff18.org/nood

Phil Meredith and Bill Tieman have pounded the pavement locally and met personally with the Race Director of the St. Francis YC in San Francisco and compiled a very detailed summary of our launch and storage facilities.

Suffice to say this set up will be AWESOME.

I'm very familiar with the area and Robbie from St. Francis has done a verynice job of getting us all that we need. The F18's are beached a block from Fisherman's Wharf and all that San Francisco has to offer. Walking distance to the official accommodations at the Holiday Inn.

And I happen to know there is an In and Out Burger just a block north. I've heard Hooters is right around the corner, but I have no personal knowledge of that fact.

Check the link for pictures, and maps complete with addeddetails from Phil.

This years West Coast Championships stands ready to surpass the 2010 event. Awesome job Phil!
