My H14 Turbo is new to me this season. My boat has a nylon cleat on the mast about four feet up from the step base and offset to the port side. Anyone know what this is for? I started using it to limit halyard slap when the boat is secured on the beach. Not sure that is its intended purpose though.

The stock halyard cleat location is centered in the front, not quite as high as that.

If it's the only cleat on the mast, that's what it's for.

Yeah, I have the jam cleat up front. I guess somebody added the other....probably for just what I'm using it as a mid-point stay to keep the halyard from banging all night and keeping folks awake. Just wanted to make sure it had no factory purpose.
