Hello - I'm new to the sport and will be buying a Getaway next week in Ft. Myers. I've got family there and plan to visit and sail regularly.

I've searched past posts, but there is not much recent activity for this part of Florida. I currently do not have beach wheels. I would love any advice on places around Ft. Myers to sail - particularly from a boat ramp. We will be on Pine Island but obviously willing to drive anywhere.

Thanks in advance for any information.

Kevin

There are just a few cats in the area.

Here is a link to a post on Catsailor that may help.

Me too...We (the Family and I) lucked out and got cheap airfare to Fort Meyers Jan 15-18 2011...Now I hope to double luck out and find a kayak fisherman with a spare mirage drive ride.....Anybody got any ideas?...dreams of red-fish are dancing in my head...I'm probably delirious though..

Just south of Ft. Myers Beach. There is a boat launch there. I believe that it is in the park or there is a place that I could pull in an launch my Bravo. Look at the Google Map of Launch Sites. Second from the top in Places to Sail Forum.

I live in Ft. Myers and I just bought a Hobie 16, I haven't gone out yet on it but I would recommend the causeway by Sanibel because I always see kite surfers out there and they seem to do pretty good

OMG, you had to go slow past the nude beach. Can you give me the exact GPS coordinates?

pyroboy08, i just bought a Hobie 16 this March. I have been out 4 times, 3 off the causeway, and one right before the tolls. the winds a bit light these days, but the next time it blows on a weekend i plan on being out there again. hope to see you out there, it would be great to get a club or fleet going here.

let me know if you plan to go out.

Hey guys sorry to revive a dead thread, but I am here until Saturday and am looking to go out sailing. I have sailed a an H16 single handed but don't have too much experience on them and an assortment of keelboats. I have my PFD but left my gloves back at college. If you want to go out by the causeway out by sanibel and need a crew let me know! 518-728-8527 it is blowing like crazy at the moment (25knts), so many wind surfers out there. I am also looking to buy a cheap H16, or H18 or even a nacra in the near future.
