My wife and I hit the beach today and brought the wave along as a learning experience. Winds were supposed to be next to nothing and shifting from low westerly to nothing, to low southeasterly. I've only had the cat for a few weeks and wanted to see just how much wind I'd need to get the slightest relaxing ride out on the water. Surf was <1 ft. waves.
Anyway, First launch attempt, stood there chest high in the water past the surf and there literally was nothing. Not a breath of air. Beached her and waited 45 min. Wind picked up West at like, maybe 3kts, with gusting 5. She made it past the breakers and we had about 45 min until the wind started backing down. Beached her again and waited as the wind went to nothing and then shifted to easterly, again, barely enough to keep a flag fluttering. Took her out again, and this time we ended up doing about 10 miles of sailing for the remainder of the day. Checked the weather and we never had better than 6 kts.
"Cool story bro !!" right !. Anyway, I was just surprised at how little wind it took for us to get out in the ocean and tool around. Also, saw a stingray jump out of the water right in front of us. Woot !!
