I have a screw that has seized and now it feels like the brass molded in nut is spinning. I was able to remove 3 of the 4 screws but can't get the last one out. I am stumped and don't want to break the cover and worry now that the nut spins I wont be able to secure that screw. I checked with the dealer and they suggested I through drill and use a nut installed from underneath. I really don't like the fix they suggest and would rather have some sort of replacement nut epoxied or glued in but have no idea what adhesive to use. I am considering prying it out or using heat (soldering iron), any suggestions.

I also have the same issue on my PA rudder access cover. I've been able to swivel the cover around to access inside, but I am starting to bend the cover by doing this.

I'd love to hear if there was a way to replace the installed nut.

same thing happen on my pa, i just drilled the bolt out and left the nut in there. 3 bolts hold the cover on fine. i would think u could heat up the nut and pry it out then set a new nut in there with some kind of glue.

it is BRASS drill it out and reThread it it is simple brass is the easiest to tap> I would try that way before prying it out!

I opted to drill it out and tap it. I had to take my time after getting the head off I started drilling the screw out when I noticed the heat from drilling caused melting and was enough to start pushing the nut down. Patience was the key. Tapping was made difficult by not having the right tap, so I took a stainless screw and a dremel and made a tap, then I used antiseize on the srews before I installed the cover.

That is what I am talking about, if you ever come across that problem again use some cutting fluid or WD40 to help cool the metal as you drill, it works. I probably should have told you that before. Glad it worked for you and the anti seize was a good move. Hope you never have to deal with that again!
