Hi, my hc14 has a jib and trapeze but does not have the Turbo decal on the hulls.

As I have some doubt on the current shrouds (their diameter seem low, about the same as the trap wires) intend to change them, should I take hc14 shrouds or hc14turbo ones?

My shrouds attach to the sidebar, on the Turbo manual available in the FAQ they seem to attach to the hulls like on a 16.

The shrouds on the 14 Turbo are identical to the 14's, and they attach in the same location - on the sidebar.

Only 14s made in the last few years (and only in Europe) have shroud attachments on the hulls like the 16.

The stock 14's (and turbo) shrouds are 3/32" diameter - the same as the trapeze wires. Some aftermarket (Salty Dog) shrouds are 1/8".

I just replaced mine as one of the 3/32" shroud failed and I was dismasted last weekend. Fortunately there was an onshore wind. I was able to pull the mast aboard, hold a section of the sail up by the batten and create a kind of wind tunnel and to steer the boat ashore. I must say I don't know how old these wires were because I just got the 1982 Turbo this year.

I ordered a new set from a Hobie dealer (Backyard Boats) and the ones I received were 1/8". Like you, I was a little nervous sailing with the smaller diameter wire.

My question was triggered by my reading of the Hobie parts catalog which has two references:

14070530 for Hobie 14 Shrouds
14070535 for Hobie 14 Turbo Shrouds

from the replies it seems the shrouds are the same, so why have two references?

I see only one part number for H14 shroud wires, 10792100. Where do you see another?

These are not Hobie USA part numbers, so may be different in Europe.

Hobie USA has just one wire... it is # 10792100

Years ago, we had two. The H14 was a smaller diameter wire.

That explains it - one short for the sidebar attachment point; one longer for the hull attachment point.

The shrouds which attach to the hull have yet another reference (14070536), for hobies made in EU after 2007.

I called my dealer, he did not know either why there were two different references.
