Matt can you please provide a sketch of the new Adventure Outriggers along with dimensions.

I'm considereing buying a new rod. I'm unsure of what length to buy as I want to make sure I can get the tip around the ama, depending on where the fish goes.

A photo would also be helpful.

BTW How much extra flotation capacity will the ama provide? I intend to try for ahi later this year (seriously).

Mahalo

Dan

Sorry Dan it’s just me.

Do you think the ama will give a higher capacity? I would guess they reduce capacity by their own weight but add stability. The Triak I sailed last Saturday proved then to add stability while reducing maneuverability. At present I can heel my yak during sailing which I am use to but when I submerged one side of the ama it caused the Triak to capsize. Then the Triak is a lot faster than the Adventure. Will have to wait till I get a chance to test the Adventure when the ama comes out.

Rumor has it there is a Triak out of Marina del Rey with a Mirage Drive. Wish I could find it.

Bob

PS The Hobie cat still has the Triak beat for speed.

Here is a shot I posted today about using the new ST Turbo fins (low end torque). It also shows a photo sample of the SIDEKICK ama kit we were testing.

I'd say that it is a big improvement on stability, I was able to sit on the rail and reach out to the ama with a paddle in my hand. Amount of float? Not sure. Length of the arm? A little outside a normal paddle stroke. The drawing calls for a 27" tube that is then bent, so maybe 24" out from the rail... no more. I have not measured an assembled one yet.

The SIDEKICK should be available by June. $145.95 for the kit.

Thanks Matt

Doesn't look like the ama will create any problems when fighting a fish.

I'd like to see some shots of guys standing in an Adventure with minor swell conditions. Maybe inserting the mast- but definitely taking it down fast. The Sidekicks could be the solution to higher speed trolling under sail.

Gotta start building my homemade birds Dundee Dandy, or Green Stick and tease some ahi up!
