I have two of the new style drive units and they both squeak very loudly. I lubed both of them with WD-40 as it was the only thing I had at the time. The squeak went away for a very short time and came back. The squeak is a very loud annoying high pitched noise when pedaling. If I take the drive out and dunk it in the water the squeak will go away for about 5 minutes. What do I need to lube to get rid of this noise? I am blaming my lack of luck fishing on this noise for now.

WD40 is more solvent than lube. But you may have something out of alignment to begin with.

Make sure everything is properly adjusted and then lube. I like the wax type lubes sold for use on bicycle chains.

My drive is not super noisy. But I feel your pain. When you are wanting to sneak up somewhere and it's making any squeaks it's a pain. I have tried wd40 and remmington gun oil with Teflon squeaks on the second use after lubing up. I guess I will just live with it. Still love my PA.
