I have a couple of small tears on the trampoline of my 2007 Getaway. Seems that the previous owner improperly laced the tramp and the cord made some cuts.

How can I repair them before the damage gets worse?? I was thinking of adding small strips of material in the pockets and then heat welding them in place...does this make sense?

Since the fabric is woven you could likely find some acceptable patch material and stitch it on using high-tensile thread. Spectra fishing line is available in up to 250# test and a variety of colors. I also recommend the Speedy Stitcher!

This is assuming that you don't mind removing the tramp for repair and reinstalling... I don't know about heat welding.

I never used it on the hobie but i use spectra when i need to sew anything that needs strength. I do WWII re-enactment and I have used it to sew up my HBT uniforms, Rips and tears in tents, and even to sew in a zipper in my fishing boat canvas. Your repair will last longer than the rest of your tramp for sure.

Damnit...even when properly laced....the cord is still slipping over and cutting into the tramp. Is it too loose? I thought about adding some fibre/rubber washers along the rod to prevent this from happening.

You could just cut a larger "V".

lol...yes, that could work too!!! When cut, do I have to seal the edges to prevent fraying??

I'd guess that we don't, but you could try for good measure. Test on the part you cut off. Fibers are molded into the vinyl, so should not need it.
