I strapped the boat to the trailer then stuck a long metal break over bar into the crossbar attached that to a come along wench that was anchored to the ceiling then applied heat with a acetelene torch (like plumbers use for soft sodering only one tank not a cutting torch with 2 tanks) one person applied heat and the other sat on the hull with the boat lifted off the trailer a couple of inches once the 5200 starts making a crackling sound bounce on the hull a little and the 5200 lets go easy! It did remove a little gelcoat but not much and its a really easy fix and the crossbar will cover it so it will not have to be perfect anyway. This is the fastest most effective way we found.

That, my friends, tells the story about why it's important to use the proper chemicals.

Sorry you had to deal with that. 5200 is pretty strong stuff.

A heated knife blade is the only way that I've found to remove the thicker 5200.

Me Too! They sell 5200 at sporting good stores for $10 and it says marine silicone I dont think people have a clue how strong it is. The fiberglass guy told me people use it to reattach loose gaskets on hatches and when the gasket finally wears out people rip the gaskets off and it tears off chunks of fiberglass too so he has to fix it before they can replace the gasket.
