On the second time out in my new TI, I stuffed up putting the cart in the scuppers. Reluctant to get wet enough and when I lowered the boat I didn't know the cart wasn't in completely. The third time out, we started to sink and eventually traced it to a hole in the scupper.
Rang the dealer and he asked me to bring it down.
Explained that it wasn't a warranty claim and took along some electrical plastic tube which fitted inside the scupper, to cover the hole.
Now here's the good bit.
The dealer supplied be a Hobie welder, red rod, goop and the tools. As I have built my own solo loading car topper (pictures soon), he asked if I wanted to do the repair and avoid any charge, which I did. The welder worked fine and no leaks under test.
I asked the dealer "How much for the gear" and he replied "The first one is on us". Being the only dealer for 400 miles, I appreciate this sort of service.
