Does anyone have a checklist of sorts or things to watch out for / inspect when buying a used H21SE?

Goal is to pick up one over the winter and be ready for the 2012 sailing season.

Anyone know of a H21SE for sail in good condition with traps, spin, & trailer?

I would greatly appreciate any advice from this group.

Breeze through this Forum, and you should get some good ideas on how to look the whole boat over, what parts are still available or not. I don't know of anywhere else you will find all this stuff in one place.

Not sure where you are located but this one is sailed and stored at local lake close to Hanover, PA. Kind of a hybrid set up but might be worth checking out. Cat is in great shape and trailer too.

Tom - yes, this forum is a wealth of knowledge. I've been reading through the posts and developing my own checklist...

Hawk - I had seen this add before but unfortunately he's put an H18 mast on it - so this ones not for me...

I'm looking at pics of an H21SE for sale and I see inspection ports in the top of the hulls just behind each of the wing sockets - so two additional ports have been added to each hull in addition to the inspection port that comes stock with the boat.

How concerned should I be? Will this affect the structural integrity of the hulls? I assume this has been done to make repairs - but I haven't asked the owner yet.

Any thoughts from the group? Should I pass on this boat and keep looking?

I have 2 H21 SE's and am looking to sell one of them.

The boat is in good condition, sails OK for daysailing (as if you can race these anymore), no soft spots, straight mast, standing and running rigging are all good.

The boat is located in Vancouver, Canada and if youre local, has a spot at the Jericho Sailing Club with storage paid till March 31, 2012.

I'd like to see about $5500 out of her.

I have a 21SE in Annapolis, MD with new rigging (shrouds, forestay and trap lines), brand new tramp (still in box) and brand new tiller extension (F6 hotstick) which I'm prepared to part with for $5500. Second baby within 14 months = not much time for sailing!

She's on an expandable trailer and comes with:
- pentex square top main (from Whirlwind Sails)
- front tramp
- cheetah bracket for 2 HP engine (sold separately)
- 9"x12" Bomar hatches- excellent, fits folding chairs and small coolers, wetsuits, drybags, camp stove, gas can, etc.
- Shroud extenders, the really long ones not just the hyfield levers
- Single reefpoint on mainsail just above the first batten. Reefs the 21SE main down to 21SC size
- Hooter on second headstay roller furler- great for light air, can close haul or broad reach, excellent performance but adds extra rigging, it's a big sail, 19'-6" at the foot
- Modified (this is a safety must) gin pole for mast stepping - the self braking winch really helps.
- Asymmetric gennaker (Hobie) - great sail in breezes up to 10-12 knts

Call me at 202 549 2817 if interested.

OK...looks like I may have to sell my last Hobie 21 SE as I've decided to build an I550.
This one is in really, really good condition with new tramp and wing tramps, new NOS jib, new asymetric chute on forward furler, main in VG cond, all new control lines, harnesses, spares, Thule dry bags for the tramp, safety gear and a tilting road trailer. This boat is totally decked out for weekend cruising.

I'd like to see around $7500 for her

Hit me up for pics.
