Hobie Cat Australasia and it's Hobie Dealers would like to invite you to the inaugural Hobie Island Day Out to be held on the pristine waters of Jervis Bay* from the 11th to 12th of February 2012. The Hobie Island Day Out will be a chance to get together with other Hobie Adventure Island and Tandem Island owners and have a sail together. There will also be a range of other Hobie products available to trial.

Activities planned include a sail on Jervis Bay on the Saturday afternoon, dinner at The Huskisson on Saturday evening, breakfast at the Vincentia Sailing Club on Sunday morning and more sailing.

For catering purposes and logistic, registration is required.

*Subject to wind and sea conditions. An alternative will be St. Georges Basin.

Hi Steve,
A Hobie day out at Jervis Bay sounds great. Two questions:
Do we now have a separate forum for Australia and do you think that's a good idea?
If you are trying to get lots of Cats and SUP's (? standup paddleboards) on the water, don't you think the fleet might get a bit errrr scattered?

We have a number of requests from customers in Australia to have such a forum. We are responding to the request.

It also gives us the opportunity to answer local question about our products if required and for those to share in Australia.

The event is really a AI / TI social that will run from one of two places subject to wind / sea conditions.

The day out will give a good number of Hobie AI / TI users a chance to see and try other Hobie products out.

The day out is not a race it is a social function. We have a group of AI / TI’s that will be fishing and this is headed up by Josh Holmes from Maclean Outdoors.

For those AI / TI customers that have never been on a Hobie 16, a Hobie Wave or a Hobie Bravo this will give everyone an opportunity to have a go if they wish.

We will have former Hobie 16 World Champion Mick Butler on hand to take people for a sail if you keen to hop on a Hobie 16!

We are amazed at the number of customer that own one of our products and ask what other products are like to sail, paddle or fish from.

I was surprised to see the new aussie forum and am not sure that it is such a good idea. :?
A universal forum surely is the best way to share info?
Isn't a separate aussie forum just an inefficient duplication that would miss out on the valuable input from worldwide members?
I see that the one post regarding TI carts could easily have been answered on the universal forum and by using the search engine that poster would have learned a lot more from the worldwide experience.
Why not just provide a clear link to the universal forum on the Hobie Aus website? :)

(Now gone off topic, thanks)

Hobie is a global brand and yes we have a global Hobie forum. Around the world we have other Hobie sites, Hobie micro sites and other Hobie forums (sailing, fishing, SUP). They all have a place. We have been asked by customers so we will provide both options. No harm either way. All good.

This should be a blast and the Hobie factory teams hopes to catch up with everyone! (re-edited as i-phone keypads are a pain  )

You're welcome!
Linking to a new forum within a get together post it was bound to go off topic.

Providing two dates is a good idea.
I can't make the first but will aim for the second. :)

being fairly new to this forum, the information on world wide is great but would be great to know who is local to me in Australia to meet up and get on the water more often.

So both work great for me,

I will be there for the first trip

At this stage I'd very much doubt that I'd be able to attend either of these dates. It's very tempting though to change my previous commitments. Jervis Bay is a pretty special place.
