Does anyone know if the new TI dolly has the ability to change between the Tuff tires and Beach tires? It would be nice if you could change depending on conditions.

Thanks,
Randy

Could I ask here what the heck do you do with the trolley when you you have the TI floating? Too big to carry and too expensive to leave around. And will actually fit in the boot of a car or do need a station wagon or larger vehicle?...Pirate

I´ve just bought a TI and a cart.
I dubt between wich cart to buy.
In my opinion, the new dolly cart may be interesting for those who transport the TI behind the car in a trailer, due to the comodity of the transfer between trailer and cart.
On the other hand probably the transport of the TI with a dolly may be easier due to the size.
Also may be really interesting for those who can reach water in a slope dock, or in a beach, but always with your car no far away...because dolly cart seems to be too big to sail with it onboard.
The price is also another question to be in mind.
Finally I bought the heavy duty plug in cart, because I think it may be more useful for a general use.

The dolly style TI cart does have its negatives like those mentioned.
The only other alternative is to use the HD cart but I'm surprised Hobie have not come up with a better cradle for the TI to use on this cart. :?
With the cart collars causing scupper damage due to the TI's extra weight a more effective cradle is needed. I've been looking at cutting down a TI trailer cradle so that it is only hull width and could be used on a scupper cart.

Matt,
Is Hobie looking at doing a more portable scupper type cart for the TI?

We considered doing a cradle for on top of the plug-in cart until we went forward with the TI dolly with cradle. We have not gone back to the plug-in concept due to concerns about loading hassle and still potentially causing damage to scupper tubes. The Dolly is the recommended way to carry the TI now.

I trailer my TI. I plan on chaining the new TI dolly on top of the trailer while I am out sailing. I am going to go to my dealer and carefully measure the TI trailer to see how I can transport the trailer when the TI also on the trailer.
Matt...what is the weight of the TI dolly? How easy can it be picked up? Enough so one person could rest it above a TI on a low trailer?

i had originally bought the TI way before it came out and was the first in annapolis to have one appreantly... i live on a beachy area and used the heavy duty cart to transport it. i am not very big but by the end of the summer had some huge muscles from dragging that thing by myself up and down a pretty steep sandy beach. i also left it on the cart for the first month and it ended up putting a big crease in the kayak.

i had to return it cuz it almost drowned my wife and i, but fast forward 2 years and i am gonna be picking up a 2012 1 march yeah!!! so i ordered the dolly this time and think it may make things a hell of a lot easier to manage. i really want something with hobie cat cart ease which i think the dolly should offer to drag it about 25 feet (about 8 feet of elevation with a hump in the middle) down to the beach. fortunately i can leave my cart/dolly on the beach without fear of hooligans making off with it, but my only wish now is that i can somehow leave the TI on the dolly by somehow supporting it at another point somewhere or that it is easy enough to get the dolly out from underneath it and then back again, but something about the weight of it and my short arms tells me that this second option is not gonna be so easy. :D

what is the best way to keep this thing stored on the dolly and not risk another creased TI??? thanks, and i look forward to being back in the TI crew in about 8 more weeks :D

If you support the bow and stern properly to spread the load, you could leave it on a dolly.

I was able to have a good look at the dolly cart on a recent visit to a Hobie dealer and I agree with Honusail.
However, due to its size, it does not suit a few of my launch sites. I am still interested in making a more portable but better supporting cart than the scupper carts currently available. I was planning to use a cut down hull width only trailer cradle but I like the new cradle on the dolly cart. It is about double the width of the trailer cradle.

Matt,
Will the dolly cradle be available as a separate part# ?

Available as a separate part? Not at this time.

??? I can buy a pair of TI cradles for $240 or so from my local Hobie dealer. I assume these are mighty close (or adaptable) to the one used in the dolly. Are you just trying to buy a single one?

They are not quite the same. The cradle is a bit more wide, meaning more hull support wide. It is also a bit more "beefy". Very well built and worth the money. I have the tuff tire version and am very happy. You can also fit either the tuff tires or beach tires to it because it has an adjustable axle.
