Hi all, most of you prabably don't have this problem but here is mine and the solution.
When I took delivery of my TI, I also purchased tramps, the first time I fit the tramps I was not happy with the way they sat. The rudder control was covered by the tramp and the were not at all nice to look at.

The problem was the length of the ama stays, as you can see in the next pics the amas are totally out of square.

At the time I talked to my dealer and they arranged a new longer set of ama stays and all I had to do was cut them to size and redrill the hole for the shear bolt. Now my tramps fit well and everything is square. I have not had any trouble with plastic tramp clips to date.
Cheers

My front Akas also are not square - and I suspect all TIs are the same.
I will be interested to hear what others have to say about poor fitting Tramps.
I had a set of AI tramps which I have just had "converted" by a friend.
They needed to be shortened a few inches so that enough tension could be applied to the straps. They also needed to be adjusted to compensate for the out of square angle the akas sit at.

This was a problem with the early TI's but I thought it had been fixed by now? :?
I have a very early TI and the ama aren't square but I have never bothered to fix it as it's mostly cosmetic. The problem of the tramp hitting the front rudder control is annoying but we can live with it.

I found the easiest way to fix the problem was to get longer aka stays. When I first encountered the problem I spoke to my dealer and he came up with the solution of cut to fit aka stays, I was supplied with a set off an AI I think and these were longer. I squared up the rear akas and cut the aka stay to suit, I had to redrill for the shear pin end and simply fit my hardware to the other end. There was talk of moving the ball the the aka clips to but there were 2 problems, first I did not want to drill holes in my hull and I believe there is a brass insert that this srews into and redrilling wound not give it the same strength.
Everything is square, tramps fit like they are supposed to. Mine is a 2011 model so I am pretty sure the problem is still coming direct from factory.

Well that is surprising and disappointing, though living downunder it takes a while for changes to get through. I would hope that the 2012 models were fixed.
Lengthening the brace bar was the solution posted when the problem was initially reported.

See Matt's post in this old thread about the correct measurements. ( viewtopic.php?f=71&t=30856&start=45 )
We haven't heard of a misaligned aka on a TI in a long time - it would be good to know what the serial number of your boat is. I just returned from checking some TI's on the production line this afternoon and they were within spec.

You will need to get help from your dealer - you probably need new braces - read the post for the info needed (I gave a link)
