Can you use a Mirage 9 Sailkit with my inflatable 12?

A friend gave me her old sail (never used) and mast for a hardbodied Mirage. It has a 2 piece mast and sail only. No other sheets or hardware with it.

I need to know if its easy to get the additional items needed to make it work with my i12. Nice savings moneywise if its doable:)

Please advise :D

The sail kit for all of the inflatable models are interchangeable, but not interchangeable between the hard shell and the inflatables. The sail is the same but there's a patch sewn on the sail for the inflatables that has the standing rigging attached. Because the inflatables do not have a large mast recepticle the standing rigging is needed to keep the mast upright and rigid.

thanks for the info--thats what it looks like :|

ques: what if I tied 3 scout ropes off the top loop of the mast and then attached them to the bow and sides tight. Would that work at all or am I just out of luck with this free to me sail...

any modification ideas would be appreciated. Really want to save some $.

Mahalos,
Kat

If what you have is a standard sail kit, you will need to have a webbing loop sewn onto the luff an then get shrouds - you wouldn't attach to the top of the sail - have a look at an i series sail and just copy it - visit a local sail loft - something like this alteration should take them 30 minutes to do for you.

thanks so much  --I have a buddy with the i12 sail kit, so I will prob just take that along to a sail loft and have them duplicate the set up.

took the Mirage9 sail to a sailmaker and they added a loop onto the sail luff for the mainstay and shrouds. $30.00. Bought some rigging rope $10..$40ttl. Taking it out this weekend to see how it holds up. Sits a bit higher up than the standard I12s sailkit..but should be fine. Stoked and ready to give it a go--fingers crossed.
thanks for the tips :D

followed the advice above and had an old windsurfing sail modified to resemble the stock sail kit. I found the rope I used for the three support lines (Shroud and main stay) stretched too much even though I added turnbuckles mid line to tighten. Going to try again using some 3/32 aircraft cable instead.
