On some of the members videos, I noticed a kind of protector (vinyl?) on the bows of the hull and amas. Are these available through Hobie or are they speciality items? It would be great to have when nosing up to gravel, etc.

I wish someone would answer this. I'm curious too.

Is there a link to one of the videos with the bow protectors you mentioned. I don't remember seeing anything like that, I am curious. Thanks

It may be something like this:

I ordered some for my fiberglass seakayak but have not installed it yet. I did call and ask if it would work on plastic hulls and the answer was yes.

Sorry Tidalwave, for some reason I missed this post. I use a 3M fabric woven gaffer type tape. It isn't the most durable, or even the stickiest, but it is cheap and I've been using it for this purpose since I've had AI's, about 4 years. When the need arises I just stick a new layer over the top of the existing and then when it's starting to look daggy just rip it off and start again.

In saying all that, I do like your 'keeleazy' HonuSail. Please let us know how it goes with some pics if possible.

Just so happens I have a roll of very sticky filament tape in RED from these guys.

It's a perfect match. I used it once for sail repair, but should work fine on the hull.
