This year's CRAM regatta at Muskegon will have an outreach focus. In addition to the buoy racing, we're going to try to do something special. Current thinking is along the lines of a low-key (=lots of fun) informal short distance race (down/back in 3-4 hours) This would be followed by more traditional buoy racing.
Please Note: With CRAM's support, HCA has tentatively agreed to allow the buoy racing portion of this event to qualify for Hobie Points under the HCA Points Regatta Policy. Any class that has 5 or more boats at the line will get their own start and be scored separately.

As the spring/summer progresses, it will help our planning to get an idea of people willing to commit to this event. If you are interested in attending, please PM me or send an email to rehmbo at mac dot com.

Exact details, NOR, and other regatta information will be posted at CRAM's website.

Finally, any Hobie sailor, regardless of skill level or experience, is always welcome to attend any CRAM event. To encourage this, first-time regatta fees are waved.

FWIW, my sig picture is from Muskegon last year (August 2011).

I plan on coming as long as my school schedule isn't too bad yet. I think this is the weekend after the first week of school and the weekend after my birthday!

I'm trying to figure out how to get my boat there, as I don't have a hobie trailer. I have a tentative plan figured out in my head involving my 'other boat' trailer. It won't be pretty, but it should suffice.

Anyone from this forum coming? I think I'll be bringing my friend to crew with me. We may start out away from the course because he's never sailed a hobie and I've never raced but we hope to jump right in quickly.

Unfortunately, it's the same weekend as a Division 16 points regatta in Toronto. There will be at least 5 or 6 17s there, so I'm taking mine there to get some practice for the North Americans.

Sorry, Zach. I was really hoping to go, especially with the training on Friday. As it turns out, my Friday at work got 'important' and my class reunion is Saturday, so I am going to go to that. Let me know how it goes, it looks like it should be a great event.

I've heard via email that 5-6 16's will most likely be there. I'll be arriving late Thursday PM so we can set up the boat 1st thing Friday and be ready to roll by 10 or 11AM.

BTW, Jolly Mon is on sabbatical - I've turned to the dark side and will be sailing a buddie's F-18.
