Division 10 sailors:

List the dates and places (or regattas) you plan to sail for the summer of 2012.

Remember, the more boats, the better! :D

We're going to try to get in some Wednesday evening cat races this season at the Indianapolis Sailing Club http://www.IndianapolisSailing.org on Geist Reservoir. We've got several new cat owners, and interest seems to be building. The keelboats normally race on Wednesdays, so the committee boat will be out there; we just need to show up.

Is Division 10 the one for all of Michigan?

Yes Steve, you are in Division 10. Although if you want to travel you can attend any regatta in any division.

Austin Lake in Portage MI is a hotbed of Hobie sailors. They have a regatta June 9 & 10 according to the website. CRAM is also very active on the east side of the state.

I'll be posting some of our CRAM plans after our winter meeting in a couple weeks. Our 2012 schedule is posted on the website and am hoping to get some outreach events pulled together for all the lurkers out there.

Here's my racing schedule for 2012:
May 12-13 CRAM/Crescent Regatta @ Crescent Sail YC (I'm the PRO)
May 18-20 Madcatter, Syracuse, NY (Hobie 17)
June 9-10 Austin Lake, Portage, MI (maybe - Hobie 16)
June 17-22 Hobie 16/20 North Americans, Sausalito, CA (I'm the PRO)
August 4-5 either ROHR, Rochester, NY (Hobie 17 or 16) or CRAM Caseville, MI (Hobie 16). Probably Rochester (more competition)
August 25-25 Flying High Regatta, Toronto, Canada (Hobie 17)
Sept 15-16 CMOR, Canandagua, NY (Hobie 14?)
Oct. 5-7 Hobie 14 North Americans, Rehoboth, DE
Oct. 21-26 Hobie 17/18 North Americans, Lake Mohave, NV (Hobie 17)

That's not including the other events I'm either the PRO for, or judging at. A pretty light season for me - so far.

Hi All,

I would love to crew on one of the Hobies during the CRAM/Crescent Regatta in May. If anyone willing to tolorate a 'new guy' please let me know. I have sailed some, but never raced, and really want to get started in it.

I am 6'2" and only wiegh about 170lbs, so shouldn't make us drag too much!

If nothing opens up there, I would really like to work on one of the race boats with you, Matt, if there is room.

Thanks,

Steve-

I'm not sure if my son will be crewing for me or not (usually he does). No matter what we'll find you a ride. I want you sailing, not spectating... :D

Steve, I might be looking for crew, especially on the east side of the state.... I will contact you if I need crew when my schedule firms up.

Hi all,

I just realized that CRAM is on Mother Day Weekend. It won't change my plans, but will increase my costs significantly! She said something about getting a REALLY nice gift?

Anyway, has anyone's plans firmed up? I would still like to crew for this race, otherwise, I will make plans with Matt to work the committee boat.

Thanks, and see you all there!

My son may be running a track meet on Saturday. If so, you're welcome to join me.

That would be great. I look forward to it! Just let me know for sure as soon as you know.

Also, it looks like water will still be cold, so I will need more than shorts and a life jacket. I have a good life jacket and harness, but will need to start looking for some other gear. Any reccomendations on what I'll need? Spray jacket and pants? or wet/dry gear?

Since the CRAM CSYC event is not HCA related (although all Hobies are more than welcome), further communication on the topic should probably be taken off-line. PM me if you have any questions.

Don't want to misuse/abuse this section of the forum. Might be appropriate in the general racing category though.
