I use the Paddle Keepers by Surf to Summit. Bought them on www.topkayaker.net. They strap to one of the side handles and simply hold your paddle right next to you on whichever side you choose to mount the keepers. Try them, they aren't expensive.
Be blessed,

Boiler

Please, how the paddle holder is fixed to the bar? Well nut, cable tie or other?

Thanks

I mounted a paddle holder clip to the side rail on the starboard side rail. It holds a single, short paddle. To ensure it doesn't come out unexpectedly, I secure it with a piece of velcro wrap.

Having it on the outside of the boat keeps it out of the way but it's easy to get if I need it.

The Scotty paddle clip 136 works nice on the rail of the PA _ We have used them here - highly recommend them

I used pop-rivets to mount the holder.

I don't like the "T" handle, I use the full paddle. It is clipped to two holders that are zip tied to one of the side rails, the paddle lays between the seat and side rail and it is out of the way but handy if I need it. I sourced the holders at West Marine.

Third picture down, paddle is secured via clip on hand rail and clip on safety flag, held in place with existing bungee cord looped around handle of PA

Ignore the boat and check out how he keeps his paddle while he is fishing shallow

I would think it would be a universal clip!

Scotty makes one you can get here for $10 -

I note that in the video for the PA 12, Hobie has attached a clip directly to the paddle shaft and it then clips onto the PA rail. I like this as it keeps the rail clear for when I store my PA (I flip it upside down), but I wondered if it would be in the way when paddling. It looks like they have it positioned pretty far up the short paddle, so I guess it wouldn't create any interference in that position.

That Scotty 136 clip is what we use standard equipment on the PA 12 FYI

I'm pretty sure that's the Native paddle clip mounted to a heavy canvas belt. If you Google "belt mounted paddle clip" you can find the info on how people are making them. I just received two of the Native brand paddle clips in from Austin Kayak and plan on putting one on the PA somewhere and one on the belt as shown in the video link. Most of my fishing is done while standing and sight casting. This rig will be invaluable!!

I have the yakattack push pole on one side and an anchor trolley on the other, so I was thinking about doing the holder like on the PA12. I bought a Bending Branches paddle because the Hobie one that came with my PA14 is a little short (IMO). But I am a little hesitant drilling the fiberglass handle. Hey Tom,(or any of my other PA brothers) what would you do? And if I copied you, what size rivets did you use? Would they work on the fiberglass, without it cracking? Thanks :?:

You can install the clip onto the hand rail or even on the side of the hull and clip int the paddle - it doesn't need to be attached to the paddle - we just did it that way so that the lines of the PA would stay clean for people who don't use the paddle (which is a majority of guys - since the Mirage Drive is where it's at!)
But you can have it mounted on the kayak and clip the paddle shaft into it, instead of having it screwed onto the paddle and clipping it onto the rail - it works either way.

So Jacques - If I want to mount my 2-blade PA14 paddle like the PA12 setup, what hardware do you recommend for fastening the Scotty paddle holder to the paddle? You refer to screws, but what sort of screws will tightly hold in fiberglass? And since the Hobie paddle is sleeved for joining the 2 halves, do you end up mounting the holder to the paddle somewhere off-center (specifically, off center-of-gravity) when joined? Can you still break it down for transport or do you end up permanently screwing the halves together to attach the paddle holder? I'd love to do this, just need specifics.

Jim-MI, I posted a new topic in the open forum. Trying to figure out how hobie mounted the clip to the fiberglass. Still havent got a straight anwser yet. I like how they did it but don't kow how. They said screw it to the handle and I would like to know you drill a pilot hole then use a wood/sheetrock screw? Or did they use the screw and retainer nuts that comes with the holder. I too would like to have the hole paddle( i have a BB paddle). I ah think of seing two clips that wouls clip on the rail without hitting any of the bungee cords. Or one if it will support it. Just wish they could show a picture or hell the parts cataloge would work also.( I think)
