OK, so I am ready to install my comp-tip and rivet in the new 3 Hole mast tang.
Now that I have looks more closely: The old original one hole mast tang was located rotated almost 1/4" off center to the starboard side.
I will center the new one.
I was going to install it at the same height of my old tang, but I am now questioning the height location of the old tang since the original installer installed it off center, and could have installed it at the wrong height as well. I bought the boat used and have never rigged it so I don't have a baseline.
I really don't want to epoxy in my comp-tip, drill into it and install 12 new rivets and casings just to find out the height of the tang is off ruining my mast rake setup, UG!
Can anyone tell me the dimension of the lower tang hole (halyard hole) from the bottom of the mast casting???? I also have to relocate it slightly up or down to be sure that all the rivets have some fresh metal to bite into. If I am going to have to estimate, should I err on installing it a bit lower or higher??
Thanks!!
