What are your thoughts on the colors? Any them hold up better than others in the sun? I like the olive but im sure that top gets hot. What's the pros and cons? What color scares sharks? Lol

I have heard that researchers say that sharks are attracted to YELLOW !!!!!
So much so that they call it yummy yellow.
On the other hand it is also the most visible on the water by other boaters or search and rescue. Darker colors tend to disappear in open water.

my PA is the older "Moss" color (it looks like a military OD green), it has held up well with minimal washings, on the other hand I had a "Papaya" Outback and it was showing marks from the tie down straps and fish blood was tough to get off if you did not rinse it off right away. I don't find the Moss color gets too hot but then again in the summer I am at 8000' elevation so it only gets 85 degrees max.

I got the Dune color and it looks fantastic. The top part with the texture can be a bear to clean (meaning things dont just hose off and I have to scrub) but the smooth sides clean up fine with a magic eraser.

I originally wanted the Papaya Yellow Pro Angler for the visibility, but my dealer didn't have any 2012s in that color and never orders that color in a PA...just the Dune and Green colors. So I purchased a Dune PA.

From what I can see, the Dune color would probably show scratches the least. My wife has a Papaya Revo 11 and it seems to show marks more easily than my Dune color. Just my observations.

The top takes a little more scrubbing to clean as it's not smooth like the sides. I used a brand new red shop towel with the 303 UV protectant and found myself looking at pink all over the boat. After a quick panic attack and re-applying with a non-red towel and scrubbing a lot, I got the pink out...lol.

Here's my ride at one of the creeks in Jacksonville.

I think I want the olive. Not to worried about scratches, I got stickers to fix those. Only thing I have noticed is my dune outback is nice in the sun and my wife's green wilderness gets hot to touch.

I have olive and the warmth of the color doesn't bother me. It does not hold stains. I did get a nice gouge ( or ) scratch from the good old oyster bed. Plus I keep mine covered. Cabellas bargain cave, 14 ft. camo cover with strapes.

I wanted the Dune color, because I think it is less visible to fish -- they do look at the sky, after all. My dealer only had two PAs in stock, an olive one tricked out with every bell and whistle option known to Hobie (and priced accordingly!), and a 2011 one they'd used as a demo 'yak. They offered me the dune demo at a deep discount. Sold.

Any input from the guys from Hobie why the Moss color was changed to the Olive color?

We change all of our colors every other season or so - no great answer for you sorry. Sales and Marketing make the call on what colors we sell - and production makes changes when a supplier changes - so there are a number of factors that go into what colors - how many and in which model. The more color options we offer the more stock a dealer needs to have - (they always want us to have fewer choices, and customers want more choices) - it's a struggle.. we can never make everyone happy.

Olive looks better than the color it replaces in my opinion (but you know what they say about opinions....) I really liked the Orange color - but we no longer offer than one... I don't get to make that decision - it's made by higher ups.

Tell the marketing folks that I want to see orange come back - it is distinctive and easy for others to see on the water. There is a reason why the recognized marine safety color is orange...

Also any of the midrange blues or blue greens. Azure, turquoise, teal, aqua....
I know we will be buying a second PA and I'd love it to be one of these colours.

There you go Hobie, offer custom colors as an option...within reason of course.... and charge a premium, say 10%
