What would a 2001 H16 sold for new back in 2001?

Had an idea and searched NADA. 2001 Hobie's sold for $7495.00 MSRP from what it showed.

Ran across one for sale that they were asking $7,000.00 Yes, it had some extra parts. But that is freaking ridiculous.

Is the trailer included? It still may be high but there's that to consider.

Yes. There were times when you could buy the boat and they would toss in the trailer. Personal Watercraft dealers would do that also with the small single trailers (Which are some of the same type trailers that are used for cats only with a longer tongue and the cross members for the hulls attached).

I could honestly see $5/$5500.00 range for a 11 year old cat with the extras listed. Not 100% value of what it was new.

Just make an offer with what you think is reasonable. Worse he can say is no. There will be other boats if you are not comfortable with the asking price.

Do you have a link? I'd like to have a look (no interest in buying).

Check this classifies for idea about pricing:

I am afraid, $5-7K for 2001 H16 is a reasonable price.
