Anyone converted the head plate of a Tiger main to use on a 18 mast? Obviously the hook would have to be cut off but would the halyard attachment point work with the 18 ring and twist shackle? Should I remove the Tiger head plate and install an 18 plate, if possible? What you think?

Yes, it works. One of our engineers has an SX and he just did the conversion. I think he cut a little off the head and installed a new headboard. He has not given me details and is now in the carribean for a few weeks. We plan on offering a retro plan to help sell some pin head Tiger sails sitting around here.

Matt,
Thanks for info. Pinhead Tiger sail? Are you reffering to the pre - STX? I have Dan Delave's smoke main with small squaretop. Any additional info is greatly appreciated. Did the engineer have to recut for the comptip? I'm in process of repairing a SX stick now. Purchased aluminum track to keep the head in, anything else I should consider?

Not sure of the details...

The pin head is the original. There have been 3 styles. Pin, ST and STX.

Thanks again Matt. Keep us informed on the retro kit. My sail is an ST. I haven't really started messing with it. I think I will convert the existing plate for now as to not have extra holes in the head. Will ask more questions as I go along.
