I installed a fitting for a spin pole on my front crossbar, in front of the mast step and had a problem with one rivet/hole. When I pulled on the mandrel, instead of feeling tension like the other 3, it immediately broke off completely, leaving the rivet slightly loose. I figured, no problem, it was a bad rivet. I drilled out and replaced with another one, and the exact same thing happened again.

It seems if it is a problem with the hole, wouldn't the mandrel just keep pulling, and the rivet pull out? Is it possible I just had a couple bad rivets?
I don't want to keep trying over and over possibly making the situation worse.

Maybe something underneath is causing the rivet to pull at an angle. I've had problems with cheap Chinese rivets too, the kind sold at home stores.

I had this problem too, the 4th rivet was the charm. IKD why the others did not take.
