Anybody in the NW Florida area participating in the Rags to Riches Regatta in Grayton Beach on 1 July? I'm told it's about twenty 16's and my girlfriend and I are planning on making this our first race.

I'll keep an eye out for your Bicentennial sails. I've always liked that sail pattern. Many years ago, I owned a 1974 RWB boat that pre-dated your '76 (see pic below). That boat is long gone and these days I'm hanging out with Mr. Blue Pirate.

WOW! What an awesome event! That's the most fun we've had with this boat since we bought it. As soon as we pushed off the beach any feeling we had about hanging back, watching what the others were doing and playing it cool were gone with the wind. Immediately we wanted to find away to get to the front of the pack, unfortunately a bad launch, missing a tack at the first mark and just generally not knowing what we were doing landed us a respectable 8th out of 20. Not bad for a couple rookies I’d say! Elizabeth Savage and the rest of the group out there in Grayton Beach put together an outstanding event. Besides all the fun we met some great people and had a blast.
Can’t wait for next year race and all the rest in between.

Cheers All!

Was there a cooler of Bloody mary's and screwdrivers at the starting area?

Agreed, it was a great event. I garnered a second place finish, prolly due mostly to a good starting position and a great crew. It was a blast.
