Just got back from Wisconsin where I store and use a 1980-16 (I live in Colorado and have a 1985 H-18 here) and in 15-20 m.p.h. winds + gusts the hummer I fabricated that is 3 1/2 times the size of the Hobie or Murrays offering REALLY WORKED !!! The leeward hull repeatedly tried to dive and as soon as it made full contact with the water it popped right out and we just kept sailing = NO-MORE-PITCH-POLE-ING !!! I attempted to get some good pictures to attach to this post for those of you who are interested to view but the camera battery was totally dead and the charger was still in Colorado, so you just have to trust me on this one. I used 1/3 of the snow board under each hull and set up the angle to match the Hobie foil model angle by trimming a 2x4 to the fit under the board. Going back in August with a recharged battery and I will forward the pictures then. It may be training wheels to some of you, but I'll bet I got an extra m.p.h. or three in the process and THAT is definitely definitely FUN !!!

Slight Correction = the trimmed 2x4 was above the board, between the board and the hull, just like the little metal tab with rubber covering it is, on the Hobie offering.

I was wondering how this would work out!
For continuity, this is the original discussion:http://www.hobiecat.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=34870&hilit=Snow+Board
I fabricated some larger aluminum hydrofoils for my H14 which I haven't yet tested.

It only stands to reason that as you make the front anti-dive foils larger they would provide more upwards lift, I guess its a matter of aesthetics.

That's true and my wife and I fight over that constantly.
She is into "looking good".
Like her underwear ALWAYS have to match her socks.

And All I care about is "does it work" !
Screw what it looks like !!

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

And these things work !!!!!!
