My wife and I own the 2011 model of the Oasis Mirage tandem and are desparately trying to find the dimensions of the kaya. Reason: we are having a custom kayak cover made. We keep our kayak in Hawaii but live in Colorado, so this is why we can't measure on our own. The Hobiecat company has referred us to the website for specs but we need more specific information. If anyone is willing to help we would really appreciate it.

We need:
-Kayak circumfrence at widest point
-Kayak height when laying on its belly (this should be the smallest dimension)

We already have the length and width from the website, but need these other two numbers so we can get this cover made. I would buy one of the covers in hobie's catalog but they do not completely protect the kayak. We keep ours on a kayak rack year round, and bugs/critters, and the elements are an issue. We need something that covers the kayak entirely and has a velcroed opening. If anybosy knows of any manufacturers of something like this please let us know. Otherwise I have found a guy that custom makes covers for around $350, but he needs exact measurements. THANKS SOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!

I just got an Oasis this weekend. The thickest measurement I got measuring from the top of the gunnal to lowest point on the bottom (longitudinal centerline) was 13.5 to 13.75 inches. I would not use a number less than 14" in you circumstance. If you live near Golden, Colorado, you could come by and check yourself. Or test fit the cover after you have it made so you don't drag it to Hawaii to find out it is not quite right.

Shoot guys... Hate to bug but I just looked at the order form for the kayak cover. Looks like it's pretty specific. Prior to this I had just talked with the manufacturer through email. I need the following also if you wouldn't mind:

height at bow(front) laying flat on ground=
length from stern(back) to widest point of kayak=
Circumference in 2 foot increments starting from 1 foot stern/bow=
1 foot from bow=
3 feet from bow=
5 feet from bow=
7 feet from bow=

1 foot from stern=
3 feet from stern=
5 feet from stern=
7 feet from stern=

So sorry to ask for more measurements but this is it, I promise! And k2ramair, if its too difficult to interpret what I need, I appreciate your offer to come by and take a look. I actually live just down the way in Morrison. Thanks again guys.

If it helps I could email you a copy of the form I have.

Wow, that is a lot of measurements. I sent you a PM so we can get together and measure them if you like. I think I see what you are asking for, but it may be better if you were involved with the measurements.
