I'm really hoping this is just some dealer out to gouge people and not official hobie pricing....because if it is, i see ya'll pricing it out of existience...and this makes me extremely dissapointed. advertizing the 2013 pa14 for 2949 and the pa12 is going to 2849 after they sell what they have?

(link deleted, as pricing is confirmed hobie pricing, wow, shame on you hobie)

if it is official hobie pricing...SHAME ON YOU! the 'improvements' are NOT worth a $400 price increase!

because at that point, i'll pickup a flats boat

This dealer is a very reputable dealer. I would expect some price increases with new year models. With the upgrades on the PA 14, I would expect a jump in prices. Just how big of an increase is the question??? Knowing the folks at Sunjammer, I would bet that they have the correct $$$.

It will be interesting to watch this as the new models hit the showroom floor. Just glad I got my new PA 12 when I did. :D

I have to agree with Thrashie on this one! I bought my 2012 PA 14 back in March and I'm very happy with the boat. I managed to fine one that was brand new that someone won in a tournament and got it at a pretty steep discount off the retail price. There's no way I could ever bring myself to drop over $3150 (7% tax included) on a PFC/kayak. I just sold a mint condition 1542 War Eagle jon boat with a 25hp Yamaha, foot controlled trolling motor, bow mounted depth sounder, chartploter/depth sounder combo at helm, on a galvanized trailer for $3200. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what is a better deal!

I havent been in a Vantage seat yet but I don't think I like the idea of arm rests on a fishing seat. I realize the functionality of the arm rests in the vantage seat but it would prohibit me from turning sideways in the seat. I do this pretty often when accessing things behind me or when getting in and out of the boat. Seems like it would really get in the way. I do however love the flat floor inlieu of the raised center hatch, and the ability to remove the seat altogether for standing to site fish and pole.

I'm going to be purchasing another Hobie this coming winter. Looks like I'll be sourcing another used PA14 or going with an Outback!

I'm Canadian and was told by my closest dealer that they won't be up here until next year and they didn't have the Canadian price of it yet which, just guessing, will probably be +$450-500 than the old version and 13% on top of that for tax

And we only have 3-5 months a year to use it...

Dang that Vantage seating! Now I'm back to not knowing what I'm doing and I thought I had it all figured out.

Arrrgh!

After pedal/paddling for +15 years and sitting on an uncomfortable seat all that time, I would willing pay $400 for a comfortable seat (VANTAGE). Just my 2 cents....

I read the dealers page. It reads like Hobie is setting the pricing on the 12 and 14.

The 12 going to $2850 is surprising....basically it sounds like a bit of a money grab or a way to phase out the 12 but business is business.

I doubt the vantage seating actually costs that much more to manufacture....damn the marketing man!

Is it a lot of money? Yep but people are going to buy it. I was waiting for the increase in deck space and a 14 but $3400 (taxes) out the door bare bones especially when I already have a good motorized fishing boat......sigh, I need more money or fewer possessions.

If people will buy it, in sufficient quantity, why should Hobie charge any less?

The consumer controls the price. There is yet no law that requires every person to buy one regardless of the price. The free market system is alive and well in the kayak industry.

Most likely, the 2013 PA14 will get a version of the PA12 seat. I would expect that plus the usual annual MSRP increase would be in that price range.

Just glad I got my 12 when I did. Got lots of work to do on it and will probably have quite a few $$$ in it when all is said and done but it's a labor of love and I will never regret one dime spent.

Sounds like the resale value of my PA 14 just went up... Not that I'm planning to sell (yet).

What did you expect? The PA 12 was the same price as the 2012 PA14. I think we all knew it was coming. Your going to pay more for a better product.

Look at Ranger boats. They are the most expensive bass boat on the market. They still are the best and every year they come out with something new it seems like. I bet Ranger will find a way to make a loaded boat for over $100k one day.

Okay I understand the PA14 maybe (but a price jump of near $500 is kinda steep - but I guess remolds and crap like that are pricey).

But the PA12 jumping in price by a couple of hundred? Seems odd.
I'm glad I got my PA12, sounds like I got an early adopter discount.

As you know Hobie sets all retail pricing, not the dealer base.
