Is there anyway that hobie put out a two tone hull in 93? Looking at a boat which according to the seller its a '93. I am wondering if he is misreading the hull id.

Pretty unlikely. Ask the seller to confirm the hull ID on both hulls, if available. One may have been replaced and painted to match the good hull.

More importantly, make sure the hulls are sound regardless of the manufacture date.

Two tone as in different deck and hull colors? No, not in '93.

Stars and stripes was around '88 or '89.

+1

The only two-tone 18s were made in the very beginning of production in the late '70s.

Hmmm I can tell you my 1982 boat is original two-tone. FWIW, the OEM hull stripes were in three different shades of blue identical to what you see in pic #2 below. The stripes were on both sides of the hulls and curved downward at the sterns like the more common "rainbow" stripes from that era....

Quite right, my bad. Still, different colored hulls / decks pretty much went away by the early '80s. They were much less common.

The exception was the "Stars & Stripes" '88-'89 special edition that had gunmetal gray hulls / cream decks.
