Participated in a 62 mile race around island Orust in Sweden. 67 (K1) started, 58 finnished. First day was hard with 12-15 knots wind right in the nose for over 20 miles. Total distance day 1 was about 31 miles and at the end of the day, everyone camped on a little island in tents. Nice evening with open fire and beer. Next day I was not able to leave my sleeping sack before I promised myself to give up and end the race, I was kind of worn out from day 1. But as soon as I was sitting in my Hobie Adventure again I changed my mind and thougt I could go a little bit longer. Nice weather and wind from behind. And a little bit longer...And I managed to forefill the race! Ended in place 26. At least 20 surfskies participated, most of them ahead of me. My time first day was 8h 2min, fastest (surski) was 5h 12min. Second day I managed in 7h 22min (total 15h 24). Winner took 9h 56min total.
Surfskies with good paddlers are the fastest, fast sea kayaks with good paddlers are very hard to beat. But the rest are possible...

I was the only mirage drive kayak. Some people couldn't understand that a kayak with that kind of hull shape could keep up with them.
