Bravo to Wave - Min. wind comparison.

One of the things my wife and I are enjoying with our Bravo is that when we sail across the bay from our shore to a sandy beach for the day, we do not fear the daily wind drop that occurs in our bay, almost religiously in the summer, starting between 5:30 to 6:30 pm. Even when you can barely detect a breeze, the Bravo seems to be able to move. Slowly maybe but surely.

The Wave seems to have a pretty decent sail for it's size also but can anyone comment on how well it does in very light breezes in comparison to the Bravo?

We love our new Bravo but although our friends never seemed to care to want to paddle over to the beach with us before, now they all want to sail across with us. So we are considering the upgraded crew capacity of the Wave. There was one in our bay this summer and it still seemed to handle the several shallow sections of our bay quiet nicely, removing our initial fear that we needed the lightest cat possible..

My understanding is that they are very similar in low wind performance, but the Wave has better high wind performance. I haven't got enough experience with a Wave to know for sure, and I wonder if many people on this forum have tried both the Wave and Bravo in those conditions.

I know exactly what you're talking about with the Bravo in low winds. That was the one thing that surprised me when I moved from my Adventure Island (with mirage drive) to the Bravo. I had a fear of getting stranded. The AI wouldn't move very well in very low winds, while the Bravo gets going with just a breath of wind. Very nice.

WE have a Bravo and A Wave....I think the low wind performance is about the same...the Wave may be heavier if you have more people.....just set your sail good...with the Bravo I can fly a hull in 10 kts of wind, and I'm 215....With Wave you can go out in 30 kts if you want. Both Wave and Bravo tow nice behind the Big boat...added plus .

Also, a motor mount can be installed on the Wave.
