I found a 17 for sale - excellent hulls, wings (needs wing fabric), tramp, harness, and one EPO rudder... I need a mast, rigging, sails, and the rudder etc. and she's good to go.

Can I use an 18 mast/sails on a 17? Can I use 18 rudders/rudder assembleys/tiller assy. on a 17?

How much should I offer for the boat? The hulls are very very solid.

Depends on the year. I paid $600 when I got mine. Sail was shot and I needed to replace one hull and tramp and wing covers, rigging. Make an offer and see what happens. It is a fun boat.

I can get it for $350. I still need a mast/rigging etc. though... any ideas? I'm trying to do it as cheaply as possible.

Thanks for the quick response btw Doug, you rock!

I would get it. Mast might take a while to find used. Get a SuperR from www.whirlwindsails.com from Chip if you don't care about racing class legal. I don't know where you are. Some area have hot action, mine is a little sparse so I race Portsmouth most of the time. Get a mesh tramp and wings covers from here: http://www.multihullnets.com/ I like the dark blue. If you want a reacher like mine you will have to add some parts. Let me know and I will send pics and advice.

Do you know if an 18 mast will work on a 17? I think I have a hook-up on an 18 mast with spreaders. Possibly 18 sails too. :)

Don't think it will work. 17 is computip, narrow at the top with no spreaders. Have to get a used 17 mast or a new one.

What if I use 18 sails??? :)

I just need to know if they use the same mast base setup I suppose.

Post in the Open forum and ask Matt Miller. I know nothing of the 18 sails. He would know.

I found my boat 300' from where it was kept, upside down with the mast bent like a petzel, both wing seats broken and a hole in the hull. So now I guess I'm another candidate for a mast and wingseats. I have a tig welder, so I may investigate whether I can weld in a new spar section, but I doubt it would work. I have a jib from an 18 rigged, which tacks all the way aft. I wouldn't mind a 18 spar, since I dont race. Any helpful suggestions?
