Got my restored H14 in the water and running well except it steers like a truck. I notice when I try to come about one rudder is about 10 - 15 degrees further around and is acting like a brake.
When rudders are down should they be paralleled to the pontoons? Toed in/out? My tiller crossbar is 76" to the bolt center.
Thanks

With both rudders down, the trailing edges should be about 1/8" to 1/4" further apart than the leading edges.

That is what I thought, Mine are about 9 inchs difference between edge of rudder front to back. My tiller crossbar is 77" tip to tip. Tube about 74 1/2. The slight bend in the tiller casting is headed to the centerline of the boat.
67 rear, 76 front measured on the rudder blade by the cutout.
I must have something wrong but don't understand what. The casting reversed?
Ideas? I have a pic but haven't figured out how to add to post.
Thanks

Just a wild a#$ guess here...maybe you have a 16 cross bar on a 14?

the top castings should be facing towards the middle of the boat so you could have them on the wrong hull. also if you send me the pics i can post them.

Well I will answer my own question, sheepishly!
I had the hulls reversed. There is no striping or decoration on the outside and I failed to notice the non skid surface was on the inside. Stupid stupid! But it has been twenty something years since I last assembled/sailed the boat :)
Well this AM put them back correctly and my rudders align correctly.
Thanks

Ages ago, we had a fleet meeting at a dealer's facility and several of us noticed that he had assembeled a 14 with the hulls on the wrong side. Needless to say, he caught a bunch of grief. Trying to sail it to weather in a breeze would be a trip. A bad trip.
