Hi, I bought a 1990 H18 with magnum wings earlier this summer. The boat is in great shape and I've had her out a few times already. There are a few things that I'm updating/ fixing such as H20 style tiller connectors, new cams and bushings, and just a general clean up job cause she was dirty. I have downloaded and extensively read the manual since I am a first time cat sailor and it has really helped speed up my learning curve.

I'm having trouble hoisting my jib and have watched and read jmecky's video and post on doing this. However, I don't have a micro block attached to my halyard wire like it shows in the manual and as many of you describe. Do I need this part? Anyone know the part number or can I just use any micro block? I bought sister clips today so I don't have five feet of line to stuff in the pocket. Just want to know if I'm missing some hardware. Thanks.

You don't need the micro block on the jib halyard to hoist the jib. Thread the halyard thought thimble and you'll be fine.

Concur. The block tends to get caught on the luff zipper opening when you're raising the jib. Do away with it.

Thanks for the response guys. I was having trouble with the jib falling a bit while on the water and thought this might be the reason why. Now I tie the halyard to the shackle in addition to cleating it. So far so good.

This forum has been of tremendous help to me. Thanks again.
