thinking outside the box.
Floats like a butterfly,.. stings like a bee!
Roman, I would pay to see Hakas and a Jib on that.
Definitely hakas in the near future, as now I can steer effectively and effortlessly from anywhere on the boat. The tiller handle extends to 50+ inches.
Seems like a lot of hardware but if it does what you want it to do, bravo.
Nice design and installation for sure.
Does it negate the need for the center daggerboard?
By the way, the kayak supports are equally novel. You might want to notify the maker that they have a product that can be marketed and sold to practitioners of two completely different endeavors.
Lots of harware, you're right. As it started shaping up, I could hardly believe it myself. Especially the number of rivets, that went into it. But this is a prototype. I will have the one I am building for my wife welded - it'll be significantly lighter and less massive looking. Doesn't really replace the dagger but works rather well with it. I also noticed it tracked a little better when beaching with daggerboard removed. At $20 a piece for folding tables, they do make for nice and inexpensive kayak stands.
