Which one is right for me?

My concern is is with weight ratings of course. I'm 225 and would be sailing solo about 30% of the time. The rest of the time will be with two or more running along. (combined weight 335~450) How much weight can I bring along and still float? I do not plan on racing, just day sailing.

After reading almost everything on the website I think the Getaway is the better solution. I've some experience on sailboats (J24, M30/2) and a lifetime ago went sailing on a HC18 and loved it! This would be my first time on a small craft by myself though.

Maybe someone can direct me to other sites or forums for HC owners. What to read? DVD's to watch and learn?

Regards from my corner in the Hot and sunny Caribbean!

Fernando

Your question is an excellent one. I asked it myself awhile back.

I stumbled on an old H14 that I used for a few summers and then decided that I wanted to take my wife and or some friends so I needed larger.

A long story made short is that I decided on a Tiger which is probably too much for me to handle as I weigh 155 lbs in my birthday suit.

However I am a decent sailor (twice as good as a half decent sailor) and I have a need for speed. :P

An excellent site for forums is

I decided on a Hobie as my old H14 is still kicking after all these years.

I'm jealous of your location! :)
