Seriously... Really itching to get some news...

I have a suggestion for location... How about the Bahamas? The perfect spot would be right off Cable Beach in Nassau. There are lots of hotels on the beach, and literally perfect sailing conditions. I'm a captain on a motor yacht, and we go to the Bahamas a lot. Any time from January to June the wind blows 12 to 16 knots just about every day.
Or alternatively, how awesome would it be to have Atlantis host the event? A guy can dream right?.

There are lots of great locations ,I imagine the main stumbling block is how to unload 60 brand new hobie 16's.
Just thinking out loud, maybe the time for a BYOB Worlds is now.
Do what the Laser class was forced to do,bring in 20 + new Charter Boats and recruit some others, and just provide the sails.
In the short term it might mean less boats can go but in the long run it will make the event more attractive and avaliable in other regions.(lot easier to unload 20 boats then 60)

Correct me if I am wrong but it looks like the Sunfish Worlds (currently in progress) have gone to BYOB event.
That leaves the Hobie 16 as the only Class (i know of ) that provides boats for the Worlds.I agree it is great to have that advantage, but if it is the difference between having an event or not,then...

Mike
you are correct the Hobie 16 worlds is now the only provided boat world championships left. I checked. Laser and Sunfish were the other two but they are both now BYOB.

I agree provided boat worlds is a great thing but we need to have worlds championships on a regular basis. Somehow all the other big one design classes are figuring out how to make it happen and have big, well attended events.

http://www.sheboyganyachtclub.com/ THIS is the place I was thinking of.
Now figure a way to get all the boats there and we're in business!

You are thinking along the right track Chris. If it is decided to go to a BYOB event then you still have to have it in a location where there is a high density of Hobie 16's.
World events are very important in terms of keeping a Class healthy. I agree with Rich they need to be scheduled on a regular bases.
Maybe time to start beating the bushes.I believe we (NAHCA) have to start comunicating with the IHCA and express are urgency. We need to have some open comunication with them in terms of possible solutions. This just sitting around wishing and hoping is not cutting it.

I have been told by the Higher Hobie Powers to "Refrain" from reporting
any news on the Hobie Worlds front.
So we are all suppose to sit quietly like good school children and not say anything.Maybe if we are good they will actually let us know what is happening. If not they might revoke are membership and not let us play.

The clock is ticking. Is anyone else keeping time? Maybe someone ( besides myself) needs to start looking for info. Not really sure why it has to be so secretive. :?:

Three Worlds in five years and one of them possible in Southern California, great news. Kudos to the organizing commitee.
The Hobie 16 Class stands alone as the only One Design Class (I know of ) that still provides boats for there World Events.
