I have posted before, becoming a 3 kayak owner has brought out my recessive
Rube Goldberg gene.
Recently, my Rube Goldberg gene has linked with my recessive McGyver gene.
My genetically modified Rube Goldberg McGyver gene is often very
beneficial. However, my wife insists on having the final approval on any Rube Goldberg McGyver
creations that are in her house or in plain view coming into our home or from any window or door. She allows me to RGM
in my office and my share of the laundry room where RGM stuff is often created or modified.
Often, she asks for help from my Rube Goldberg McGyver gene for emergency repairs and to make some store bought thing more useful.
Lately she is starting to show possible transfer of my
Rube Goldberg McGyver gene with her decorations, plants, garden and how she fixes or arranges them.
She is concerned that lately, I spend time at Home Depot and/or Ace looking to buy items that might become useful RGM adaptions/creations.

Perhaps we need to retitle this thread the MACGRUBER thread, (or McGyver, if you don't know who MacGruber is).
While I think the Thule matt looks nice, I find a perverse joy in find something else that does the same job for a lot less.
MacGruber Question: What is it about the Thule matt that makes it slippery?
...and I'm still looking for a rail system that slides down off the back of my Jeep to the ground and I simply roll my kayak onto it, latch the yak to the rail, and lift then roll back onto the roof. A guy can dream.
