Any way to stop my H17 pulling to windward?

Don't know if this is a setup issue, or common on all H17s, but when sailing upwind, there is a constant pull on the tiller as the boat wants to turn upwind slightly... It makes is very tricky to get out on the wire etc when the tiller is needing so much pull...

Is there a way of setting up the boat (mast rake / rudder setup) that will help reduce this?

Make sure you have the right rudder n the right side if you have a removable crossbar like I do. The arms should point toward the middle of the boat. I got in a hurry last weekend and had to go back and reverse after being out for30. I had to pull like hell. Then check the alignment (any articles on here on how to do it) and the toe in. You should have no more than 1/8 inch toe in.

Rudder rake is important.

First outing on my 86 I experienced extreme weather helm/windward pull (30+ Lbs!)(more on Port Tack). Findings:

Cam damage prevented upper casting seating, so starboard rudder was semi-"kicked" out.

I replaced cams, rudders stayed put, problem improved greatly, but still pulled a little too much. Rudder had excess aft rake.

Followed the technical procedures on Hobie support website to tune the rudder rake. It worked nicely; at lower speeds the helm is neutral, I can go for a walk on the front of the hulls. As speed exceeds about 8knots, weather helm increases.
