 Post subject: Mirage drive repair?

Does anyone know of a way to fix this without replacing the entire chain assembly? Is there anywhere that sells just the cable+linkage? I was hoping to avoid paying $40 for an entire chain assembly

That is a special part and a very specific length. I don't think it is repairable.

Matt should know, but for me, I would not want anything but orginal parts. If a bad repair takes place and then other parts might start wearing out quicker. Then you will be looking at $500 total replacement instead of the $40 for the easy fix. Good Luck

That is a fatigue failure typically. We designed the drums to limit the flex of the cable as it enters the rolled end fitting, but the process or roller swedging the fitting and the stiff to flex transition of the area is a stress point that sees failures from time to time.

A friend of mine had the same problem. Although we use WD-40, there was rust on the cable.
