I just got my first 2012 PA 12 and I love it. Other than what comes with it I've already added an elite 5 DSI and got the wheels to roll it around. Im mostly going to use it for nor cal saltwater and bass on Clearlake/Sonoma etc...what are the best add ons or mods that I should really do to make my experience more fun? I know I want a go pro and a mount for it, not sure what else though.

I would recommend a stand and fish combo and a Hobie sail kit. You will be able to sail to your favorite fishing spots and have a rock solid platform to stand on. You can see the stand and fish at http://standnfish.com/

Fishing with your new Hobie has been just half the fun for me, Outfitting AKA Pimpiming it out has been just as fun. Please post some pics as you modify this site has been a great leaning tool.

Later, MM

Alex C,
Congrats on the new PA, I'm sure you'll love it! You may already have this covered but be sure you have some $$ left over to make the experience safe as well as enjoyable.
-VHF/weather radio
-Visibility flag... Yakattack makes a great one: Visipole
-PLB
-Repair kit for Mirage Drive
-Paddle
-Pump
-PFD

Surely, there are others...

Have a blast out there!

My best advise is to go slow with adding to the PA :!: If you look at some of the various rigging ideas here and on other websites, some folks try to put everything they can think of on their kayaks. Lots of these set-ups look like homeless fishermen.

Start out with the basics. Even then, don't go drilling any holes to mount these basic items. Go out a few times and get a "feel" of where you want to mount them. Is it going to be in the way of the fishing rod/paddling/or out of reach?

While your style/type fishing will dictate the most logical rigging, here is my basic Get Started rigging list:

1. Anchor Trolly
2. Rod holders
3. Stakeout Pole/Anchor
4. Softside Cooler

Remember, the purpose of "Pimp" rigging is nothing more than keeping you entertained while not fishing. Most "Pimp" usually gets in the way when fishing!

Good ideas thanks everyone! I agree I don't want to go crazy with extras. I like sleek and simple.
