Found the nominal dimensions on page 20 of the parts guide. Wanted to know if the length is the raw batten itself or also inclusive of the batten cap.

There are no caps on Tiger main battens. Just a hole drilled in the aft end.

Unless you're talking about the jib battens (in which case I have no idea - I sold mine before the fully-battened jibs came out).

Jeff...

Tiger/F18 battens should be cut down to 1 to 1.5 inches longer than the leech. Measure first, then drill 1/4" hole through batten. Once hole is drilled, cut the excess batten off while bisecting the 1/4" hole. Use a file to round off the corners and edges. This will leave a notch in the batten end where you would put the tension line. There are no batten end caps as Matt stated.

When replacing battens that are too short you really only need to buy one...the longest and start the process there by replacing. Then take the original batten which was replaced and move up one panel, measure, cut, install, then the next...and so on...and so on until your at the head of the sail.

Call or email if you need a hand.

Thanks guys. Didn't have the old ones in front of me so couldn't remember whether they included caps.

Unfortunately, I toasted 4 during my little misadventure last month, so I may have to get creative.

Found the battens. They must be non-standard as they have the end-caps. Good idea on moving them to different pockets. Looks like 2 can be shortened to work in shorter pockets, thus only 2 need to be purchased.

What do you think on a source? Does HCUSA carry them? Are Murray's catbattens OK?

Hobie sells the whole package last time I checked. Remember if the base of the batten broke it is tapered for the sail. don't cut the mast sie off and move it up one. If they are not available from Hobie, then try Glaser Sails they have everything normally in stock.

You can buy individual battens - we also sell complete sets.
The individual battens you just order by length - and we pick them from H20 inventory - same Scott Anderson fiber foam battens - order from any Hobie Cat dealer toll free 1800hobie49
