Dang! Another great day here in SF. The water was smooth pretty much all day due to a flood during most of the races. Ebb chop developed late in race 3 with gusts to 23 knots at the comittee. Had a nice gathering at the yacht club with provided beer chips and salsa and a very lage bowl of guacamole, which we proceded to devour. At around 5:30 everyone moved their chairs over to the huge picture windows to watch the start of the Thursday evening kite surfing race. We counted 14 kites. It's a madhouse at the starting line!! We were all speculating about how they don't get tangled up. It's a crazy sport!!
Gordo, guess he didn't get enough for the day, gulped down a burger and rigged up the 17 again to go tango with the 150+ foot crusing boat "Georgia". It's a massive, maroon sailboat that as we watched it pass behind Alcatraz beating toward the gate, we could see its huge mast sticking up above the island. It must be around 200' tall. To tack, Georgia furled in the jib each time so it would clear the other two roller furling headsails. Gordo went and did a circle around him in 20kts and 4'ebb chop. That guy is hardcore!
The yacht club is a cut above as usual, and the racing was outstanding!
Last I checked, Matt Bounds is 11 points ahead of Acquart. Forgot the details, but it's something like:
