The clew plate is not the answer, the traveler is.

That is just plain silly. :P

Man up and deal with it.

Traveler? I draw the line there.
Sailing against Mr. Black Dog Racing at Indianapolis, he had a his boat tricked out but and I agree, that there is only so much you can do to these boats, and he's a good sailor BUT his boat was clearly faster and its hard to put your finger on what it was.

It is Black Cat and Patrick's boat is not tricked out in any way. Fine tuned, yes, but it has no "trick" stuff other than good rudders and a nice sail...and Patrick!

The trick stuff shows up on non-racer Waves with multi-block down hauls, travelers, mast rotators, barber haulers, jibs, coolers, motor mounts, oars, etc.

Sorry, I meant he has nice (censored) on his boat. Tramp is that cable type, but he's got that wicked tightener thingy that makes the boat nice a snug and square, plus he had nice blocks and a nice new sail.

So ... did we ever resolve whether a clew plate on the main was class legal? I think my brand new sail is too flat up top, I'm tapering the battens, and at the bottom, I was going to have a clew plate installed. But I got this sail to be class legal.

So ...?

How about installing on Wave mast, boom and sail from 14?
That should improve performance of Wave.

not about mast rotation. just wanted to know more about what was just mentioned about tramp tightening blocks. I have a old style SE and tightening the tramp each year has always been a difficult proceedure

The Classic (SE) trampoline is typically tensioned by using the mainsheet system and aft straps. By adjusting the line ends where they end under the aft area, you may be able to more easily adjust it.

yes I knew the manual way to tighten the tramp. It isn't the easiest trying to tie the line off and then getting the hook out of the way. I was hoping someone had a better idea. But thanks Matt

I put water in my Wave after winter and it seems to me that the rotation must be less than what I remembered.
I have adjusted the tension of the battens but it seems to me must be less sensitive to rotation. I repeat everything is set as the past year.
