I am about to purchase the Hobie eVolve 2 motor kit for my PA 14. I am hoping to take advantage of the most recent technology from both Torqeedo & Hobie.

Hobie eVolve brochure says:
-230 Wh Lithium-Manganese battery (8AH @ 28.8V).
-Torqeedo Ultrlight 402 motor.

Torqeedo site says:
-Ultralight 403 (320 Wh -> 11AH @ 29.6V).

Is there a difference, perhaps, in my understanding of the terminology between a "Ultralight 402 motor" and a "Ultralight 403" battery?

Is the current kit being supplied with a Torqeedo Ultralight 402 motor & an Ultralight 403 battery?

Please clarify what will be supplied on an order placed this week. Many thanks.

A background note from 2011:
Quote from Jon Shein written in Kayak fishing magazine dated 20 October 2011 ... [tip of the hat to Memory Maker who kindly pointed out this article] ... "The difference between the 403 and its predecessor the 402 is battery capacity. It has an increase of almost 40%. The battery is lithium based which offers the best power to weight ratio presently available."

Maybe you're looking at an older brochure which shows the V1?

The current eVolve system is a 403 system

Your welcome MM. You deserve a shout out...great article.

Re comment from Mr. Bernier...the brochure is the current on-line brochure on the Hobie website. That's why it is still not clear to me.

Does a "403 system" have a 402 motor or something different?
Does a "403 system" have the 230 Wh, 8 AH battery or the 320 Wh, 11AH battery?

I want to be sure before ordering.

Thanks for your responses & I hope Hobie team can confirm.

The evolve page has the current info (http://www.hobiecat.com/kayaks/accessories/evolve/)
- but that clickable link for the brochure is the previous version - I'm asking our web master to take that down as it's no longer current - sorry for that confusion

We have now updated that eVolve page to show the current 2 page catalog spread. Sorry for that error on our website - we missed that one.

Thank you JB. I see the new brochure now & it confirms the 320 Wh, 11AH battery.
Not so sure what you call the motor now other than it is part of the "403 system".

Thanks again for the quick actions & clarifications. I am about to become an EK-er! (Electric Kayak).
